How It Works

3 easy steps to confirm endodontic disinfection

3 Steps to Confirm Clean Canals

Step 1: Aspirate, Rinse, Aspirate

  • Aspirate out the disinfectants

  • Rinse the canals with 1 mL of sterile water

  • Aspirate out a sample of the root canal

  • Notes: Leave the canals and the floor of the chamber soaking in water. You may pump the syringe tip up and down the canals before aspirating to agitate the canal walls. Stay at least 3mm short of the apex to avoid pulling fluid from past the apex.

Step 2: Inject into the Endotester

  • Pull open the endotester and inject the root canal sample into the plastic tube.

  • Use the cotton swab to soak up the sample and then press down on the colored top of the Endotester until it sits flush with the top of the tube

  • Flick the test tube several times to make sure that all of the enzyme has dissolved and so that the solution has made it to the bottom of the Endotester

Step 3: Review your Endoscore

  • Turn on the Endocator by pressing the button on the right side of the unit. The unit will need 10 seconds to calibrate

  • Place the Endotester into the top of the Endocator, then close the door

  • Push the start button. In 10 seconds you will see a 0-100 score

  • 0-30 is clean, 31-60 is contaminated, and 61-100 is dirty

The test takes about a minute and can be used for vital, necrotic, and retreatment cases
