Procedure
Step 1
Paper point sample
Rinse the canals with saline or anesthetic. Leave saline in the canals for 30 seconds. Use 1-3 paperpoints to transfer the solution into an Endocator tester.
Step 2
Enter tooth in Endocator
Turn on Endocator. Select the type of tooth you are testing
Vital or Necrotic
Anterior or Posterior
Final File Check or Final Rinse Check
Step 3
Test the sample
Bend the top of the tester, then squeeze and gently tap the tester to activate. Place the tester into Endocator and hit OK. Results will display in 10 seconds with a 1-10 rating of tooth disinfection and a pass.
0-3 Pass, tooth is clean
4-6 Some debris still present
7-10 Caution, more debris present
What it looks like
Endocator takes 10 seconds to read the results and whole process takes about a minute. Endocator tests for cellular debris so should be used on all root canals such as necrotic teeth, vital teeth and retreatment cases.
